Dehlia Low Down ::: July 2011

Happy Summer!

July is a marathon month for us, with 21 shows, hopefully somewhere near you! We are thrilled to be touring in anticipation of our Aug 2nd release of “Ravens and Crows,” which is available for another few weeks for presale on our website at www.dehlialow.com!  The tour began last week at the Rebel Records factory where we had an incredible tour from Mark Freeman, Rebel’s president, into the “vault” where so many priceless recordings of southern folk, bluegrass, and blues recordings have been meticulously archived thanks to the tireless work by his dad, Dave Freeman. Rebel is celebrating their 50th anniversary this year…be sure to check out their incredible catalog at www.countysales.com, it’s worth the trip!

Last week we went to the mid-Atlantic, and this week we’ll be doing a deep South run, beginning with an appearance at the Ogden Museum in New Orleans on Thursday the 14th and ending at the famous Bluebird CafĂ© In Nashville on Sunday the 17th, with stops along the way at Hal’s and Mal’s in Jackson, MS on Friday the 15th and the Blue Canoe in Tupelo, MS on Saturday the 16th.

A little closer to home, we’ll be at the beautiful and historic Mast Farm Inn in Valle Cruces (near Boone), NC on Sunday the 24th at 8pm before heading out west for our first-ever California tour! This should be an exciting week of shows with Rita Hosking (www.ritahosking.com), an incredible singer and songwriter from northern California. We’ll begin near Nevada City at the North Columbia Schoolhouse on July 29th, then heading to Sutter Creek Theater in Sutter Creek the 30th, and then an appearance on Sunday the 31st at the notable Freight and Salvage in Berkeley. We will stop at Bear Valley (Tuesday), the Hop Monk in Petaluma (Wednesday), and the Red Fox in Eureka (Thursday) before the Dead on the Creek Festival in Willits on Friday the 5th, and Grey Pine Farm near Redding on Saturday the 6th.

Check the “tour dates” page on our website www.dehlialow.com for all venue info and show times, as well as to look for any added shows and radio appearances. While you’re there, you can find the link to our facebook page and “like” it, and if you’re really motivated, share the link with your friends.

Our July tour will be bringing us to some new markets for us, so if you have friends or family in the areas we are touring, anything you can do to spread the word is always greatly appreciated. At so many shows, enthusiastic folks of all ages run up and tell us how their parent or child or friend or coworker told them about us and they decided to come out to the show to check us out live. That’s the way we like things here at Dehlia Low, building community around art makes it all worth it…so bring it on, we want you to be a part of what we do!
